RARE, 1983 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28 Custom Roadster Convertible. Z-28 is in good condition and would make a nice toy for someone since it's sporting 305 v8 motor with freshly rebuilt automatic transmission. This beauty has a fresh 84 z28-305 Chevy small block, with a mild cam and new 4BRL carb (not a crossfire injected). Recently tuned with real dual exhaust, and it sounds amazing. This roadster has a new radiator, alternator, brakes, water pump, hoses, belts, plugs, wires and distributor. I would not hesitate to jump in and drive to Chicago or NYC right now.The Camaro has 84K miles, power steering, power brakes, automatic trans, remote mirror and gray cloth interior. The red repaint is in nice condition, about a driver-quality paint job.

The Body is very solid and straight, has a fire-engine-red paint job with silver ground effects. It's basically a stored survivor and could be easily made a show winner without the major expenses of rust repair. Glass is in good shape. Weather stripping is in good condition. The convertible top is in good condition without any damage. All of the convertible hardware and snaps are there and it operates as it should. The plastic window is intact but yellowed. All of the locks and hardware to operate as they should. The odometer shows 84,000 miles. However the engine came out of a 1984 z28 wreck, had about 34,000 miles. Engine has been tuned up fluids changed runs well

The gray cloth Interior is original to the car and is in good condition. The driver seat has wear The original carpeting is good. The windows operate as they should. The Undercarriage is in good condition with no major rust issues. Floor pans and frame are original and in good condition. New exhaust system was installed with headers.
Other info: The car is in pretty much original condition. Car comes with factory keys for doors, ignition and trunk and Owner's manual.

More Information about the conversion

This 1983 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 features a unique conversion by the now-defunct Auto Form Corporation, who converted hardtop F-bodies into these two-seater roadsters. GM would drop ship a car to Auto Form, who would handle the conversion before shipping the car to the GM dealer, with a customer ready and waiting.

Auto Form took those factory-fresh F-bodies, and immediately cut the roofs off. A massive chassis brace was welded in behind the front seats, tying the floor and door sills together. Additionally, a bolt-in chassis brace was added under the car to help return some rigidity -- as much as you could expect from a third-generation Camaro -- back into the chassis.

The new hole was then capped with the custom two-layer fiberglass top you see, which used custom hinges in conjunction with the original hatchback's lift struts to open, allowing a small convertible roof to be manually closed over the front seats. When the manual top was down, it folded into a compartment where the rear seats once resided.

Though the company is now gone, it's estimated that only a fewer than 1,000 were ever produced between 1983-1987, In 1983 the first year they only made a dozen cars and this is one of them. The original conversions cost around $5,500, or about $13,000 in today's dollars, adjusting for inflation - nearly 50% of the third-generation Z28's original purchase price of $10,600 STICKER.
