Community Healthlinks (CHL) Respite program provides 11 respite beds on its main Worcester campus for the DMH Worcester service system. The program provides temporary housing and support services for clients who are in transition from one living arrangement to another:sometimes coming directly from Worcester State Hospital or a community inpatient unit. The Respite program offers a community:based Crisis Stabilization Unit and medical respite is provided for homeless clients who are recovering from an illness or injury.FT (37.5 hrs. per week) Residential Counselor I/II to:Complete documentation in a timely and accurate mannerProvide a safe and structured environment for a diverse population. Demonstrate an ability to develop respectful interpersonal relationships with clients while maintaining appropriate boundaries Transport clients to and from appointmentsDemonstrate outstanding communication skillsAssist clients and DMH case managers with researching placement and benefit optionsAssist clients and DMH case managers with applying for and securing housing and benefitsWorking with residents to maintain the residence on a daily basis including chores, grocery shopping/carrying groceries into the kitchen, bedroom upkeep, laundry to include carrying to and from washer/dryer, yard work, and other moderate housekeeping duties.Grade 5: Residential Counseling I : HSD/GED/HiSet or Associates degree required Grade 6: Residential Counseling II: Bachelors degree required; degree and/or coursework in social work, counseling, psychology or related field preferred.Current valid US:issued drivers license and ability to provide registered and insured automobile for work related purposesPrevious experience working with clients in human services, mental illness or dual diagnosisDemonstrated strong work ethic, ability to work independently, and ability to contribute to team objectives required. Applicants should be able to multitask, will possess excellent problem solving skill and enjoy working with people.All bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged .
