Position Summary Application Administrator will provide 1st level support of all production system processing and applications. This includes job automation, running batch jobs, running SQL scripts, reviewing logs, system and application monitoring, maintenance, patch management, software upgrades, file transfers, backups, first level troubleshooting and support. The design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing, and modification of automated batch processing based on user and system specifications. Primary Responsibilities and Duties Manage Service/Problem tickets (JIRA) promptly and within established SLAs. Own and modify as appropriate system configuration settings; set best practices and maintenance regime for assigned systems based on requirements of the Director of IT Operations, software/vendor recommendations, experience, and business needs. Ensures the efficient operation of production systems including database, application and web servers. Establishes job automation using scripts and other tools. Ensure proper backup coverage and monitor backup quality with documented test restorations. Monitors system and application availability and performance information. Maintain operating system and application current patch levels on all servers. Ensures the efficient operation of Windows and Mac workstations, systems imaging, and office automation processes. Maintenance of the Microsoft Active Directory Users and Groups. This includes maintaining network users, mail accounts, directories and security through ADManager. Setup, support and maintain user\'s workstations. Manage and maintain telephone and door access systems. Work within Company change control and IT security policies. Troubleshoot and perform Root Cause Analysis of basic software and hardware issues. Responsible for 24x7 on-call problem resolution for production and office environments in areas of system expertise, and authority to escalate as necessary. Application Administrator is required obtain/maintain a cellular phone with Text Messaging capabilities for alerts. Monitors or runs daily batch jobs and file processing. Reviews daily logs from batch jobs. Reviews production system and application logs daily. Runs ad-hoc batch jobs and SQL scripts on request. Maintain production tape backup system and perform backups and restores as required. Monitors production Antivirus. Creates and maintains batch files and scripts as required. Suggests and implements automation as appropriate. Ability to interact well with employees, vendors and customers. Research and evaluate problems or technologies outside current knowledge or experience. Create documentation as required. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge and Skills Thorough understanding of Microsoft products/systems and their administration. Basic understanding of LAN configuration and administration. Thorough understanding of the Internet and its key configuration components (eg DNS, email, http, IP addressing, Subnetting,). Thorough understanding of batch files and scripting. Thorough understanding of different methods of file transfer - FTP, SFTP, FTPS and NDM. Thorough understanding of Microsoft IIS. Basic understanding of SQL scripts. Basic understanding of virtualization technologies. Experience with batch automation and automation tools. Time management and solid organization skills. Ability to interact well with employees, vendors and customers. Qualifications Experience and Education: Graduation from a 2 year technical school with a degree in electronics, networking, a closely related degree or equivalent experience. 2-4 years of experience in production application administration experience in a Windows Server environment, Windows Systems Administration in multiple server enterprise (5 or more servers),and end user desktop support in an office environment Experience using Microsoft Windows 7, Apple/MAC OSX, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, PostgreSQL, VMWare, Microsoft Office 2007/2010, Sterling Commerce Connect Direct/NDM, ipSwitch FTP products and SolarWinds ipMonitor Preferred certifications in CompTIA A+ Certification, Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)Source:
