Company Information Cactus Asphalt is a local construction company dedicated to providing the highest quality jobs and customer service.
Position Summary: We are looking for an Chip Seal Project Engineer who will work closely with the Project Superintendents, coordinating staging areas, tracking production daily, attending meetings, helping out with supervision of subcontractors, heling with the day to day logistics, doing field logs for the crew each day.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assisting Project Superintendents in previewing jobs in advance, to come up with quantities and production rates.
Scope out jobs for staging areas, for the equipment and materials storage.
Must attend client kickoff meetings, may correspond directly with the client or client project team.
Assist with watching subcontractors as they perform work on project sites.
Project Budget Management ensuring we are hitting production goals.
Work with Project Superintendents to prepare budget forecasts capturing actual budget commitments as well as foreseeable risk items and commitment.
Work with Project Superintendents and or Division Managers in development of project site, safety, logistics and other project plans that may be required.
Assist Project Superintendents and or Division Managers with their list of duties.
Invoke Cactus Asphalt Core Values.
Help coordinate material delivery schedules with the Superintendents and or Division Managers.
Collect and maintain documentation and or material tickets for project billings.
Assist crews with any tasks they are given, to include but not limited to: operating equipment and or manual labor if needed.
Must attend all meetings that are required.
The Chip Seal Project Engineer will coordinate with other project staff and contribute to the following tasks:
o Engage with permitting agency
o Track quantities for the days production
o Develop safety and quality control plans with internal stakeholders, subcontractors, and clients
o Job walks
o Monitor and track all
subcontractor/supplier invoices.
o Producing Field logs for the Project Superintendents crew.
This position is considered a safety:sensitive position and is subject to the companys drug and alcohol policy, as well as all OHSA regulations. All employees must wear the appropriate personal protective equipment and follow all safety guidelines at all times as an essential part of their job responsibilities.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Must be able to operate vehicles and trailers in a safe manner, in compliance with local, state and federal
traffic laws.
Must be able to operate equipment, machinery and other tools in compliance with safety guidelines and manufacturer specifications.
Must be able to work outside, frequently for long periods of time in all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures.
Must be able to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment in a variety of different situations.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, kneel and lift overhead.
While working, the employee might be exposed to various chemicals, vapors, pollutants, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machines, and dust/debris.
Minimum Qualifications
Two (2) years related experience is preferred.
Ability to speak read and write English is preferred.
Must be willing to travel to all job:sites without exception (including staying away from home if necessary.)
Must be willing to work out of town and some weekends is a must
Must be flexible with work schedule.
Must have computer knowledge and skills of MS Word, Excel and Outlook
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to logically troubleshoot problems and develop creative solutions
