POSITION: Recreation Respite Assistant (Part Time)DEPARTMENT: Family Support ServicesDIRECT SUPERVISOR: Respite/Specialist Program CoordinatorDATE: February 2017DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The On-Call/Part-Time/Recreation Respite Assistant will provide assistance and supervision to individuals and families enrolled in the Recreation Respite Program. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:* Ensuring quality recreational services for all families/participants registered for the Recreation program.* The implementation and facilitation of Recreation activities that are on the program schedule.* Supervisory and direct care responsibilities with participants.* Accompany participants on trips into community setting.* Providing assistance with mobility and community orientation.* Acting as a role model to individuals and their social skills.* Responsible for complying with all Part 635, Part 671, Part 624, and part 633 regulations in total, and reporting violations, deficiencies, and/or incidents to direct supervisor as they are discovered or indicated.* Completing all mandatory training in accordance with OPWDD regulations and policy including, but not limited to CPR, First Aid, SCIP, Abuse Rights and Reporting etc.* Following all policies and procedures.* Maintaining a positive relationship with parents, program participants and other staff.* Transporting individuals to community based recreation outings as needed.* Keeping supervisor and/or family informed of any health and safety issues as needed.* Any other duties as assigned by your Supervisor.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSCandidates must possess a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record, acceptable to the Agency's insurance carrier.Pass and maintain OPWDD Certification in CPR, First Aid, Strategies for Crisis Intervention Level I and II.Be able to lift 40 pounds with no restrictions.Position's regular hours will be scheduled: Tuesday-Thursday 8am-4:30pm, Friday 1pm-9:30pm, Saturday 8am-4:30pm.Responsible for following agency safety and health policies, procedures and rules.NYSARC, Inc., Broome-Tioga County Chapter, dba ACHIEVE complies with applicable Federal civil rights laws and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, or sex.ATTENTION: If you speak English, language assistance services, free of charge, are available to you.
