Position Summary:
Leads the technical program for water treatment for cooling towers, evaporative condensers, boilers, and other applications with the specific intent to enhance asset life and reduce operating costs for the ConAgra Foods Supply Chain. Actively supports energy reduction through project conceptualization of thermal capture/reuse and other energy reducing applications. Assists in development of strategies, comprehensive implementation plans, and program oversight for preferred vendor programs for water treatment and other utility systems. This results in value:added performance by using recognized best industry practices. Recognized as one of ConAgra's technical experts regarding utility system equipment and design. Oversight for technical accuracy and thoroughness of the conceptual scope defined by FEL:1s or Tech Brief documents. Guides investigation of emerging commercially available energy reduction technology/best practices in support of developing competitive advantage to ConAgra.
Position Responsibilities:
:Works with Senior Principal Engineer of Technical Services (Energy and Wastewater), ConAgra Procurement, Supply Chain Engineering, Operations, and preferred water treatment vendors to develop strategies to reduce cost, maximize equipment performance, ensure preservation of ConAgra capital equipment.
:Develops and drives programs focused on improving utility system capacity, capability, sustainability, and control while generally reducing total delivered costs.
:Keeps current with the latest utility and energy technology and commercial applications, and communicates opportunities to internal and external stakeholders.
:Keeps current with latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to utility equipment system design and operation and includes
:Provides technical feasibility of applications to other groups within the Company that are focused on improvements to the current state and developing competitive advantages against ConAgra's peer set.
:Works with platform engineering leadership to develop annual and 3 year capital plans by recommending energy/utility system improvements and solutions that are proven in both concept and performance.
:Develops Front:End:Loading packages (FEL's) or Tech Briefs that are complete, clear, concise, and reflect appropriate due diligence to ensure project success. FEL packages include, but are not limited to:
:Technology assessment and recommended solutions reflecting plant, ConAgra, and industry best:in:class practices
:Infrastructure requirements and needs assessment
:Working with the Engineering project manager to determine a design schedule that meets that overall project schedule requirements
:Working with the Engineering project manager to develop preliminary capital / expense estimates
:Primary equipment / system Performance criteria
:Identification of alternatives, pre:requisites, risks, and opportunities
:Reviews submitted FEL:1 or Tech Brief packages that are developed by third party engineering partners for accuracy, completeness, and operational effectiveness.
:Participates in design reviews to ensure the proper implementation of utility technical solutions through the execution phase.
Qualifications/ Education/Experience/Skills:
:A BS or MS degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is required
:Practical experience of 8 to 10 years in the design and operation of primary water treatment applications such as steam and condensate systems, cooling towers and evaporative conden
