Job Description MAJOR FUNCTION Responsible for providing troubleshooting and repair of commercial and industrial cleaning equipment (vacuums, buffers, auto-scrubbers, etc) in the shop and in the field. Will pickup and deliver machines from/to customers safely and professionally with attention to detail and procedure. Responsible for recording repair parts, billable time and and other services per service job. Responsible for communicating necessity of repairs and their charges to Shop Manager and/or customers. Responsible for securing documented authorization from the customer for service charges before, during and after the service job. Must expedite diagnosis, parts orders, and complete repairs as timely as possible in behalf of customers. Responsibilities also include occasional repair, replacement and install of paper, hand-soap and chemical dispensers. Responsible to work cooperatively with Manager to grow sales of Service Repair, Service Contracts & Rental Sales. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 50% Troubleshooting and repair of commercial and industrial floor cleaning equipment either in the branch shop or on location at customer site. Dispenser repair and install. 5% Completion of all required reporting of service work performed, time sheets, and other reports as set forth by the Service Manager. 40% Pickup and delivery of machines for service, other company errands. 5% Maintain a clean and organized Shop and branch parts inventory. Maintain parts stock in van at minimum levels. KNOWLEDGE & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES: Excellent communication and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills & repair tracking and documenting/invoicing skills Ability to work productively independently with little direct supervision. Responsiveness to management priorities. Must be reliable. Basic mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system trouble shooting skills. Must have the ability to read, understand, and follow electrical and hydraulic schematics. Must have the ability to use a variety of basic electrical testing / diagnostic equipment, and have a basic understanding of AC and DC electrical theory. Safe driving record and ability to safely pull and maneuver truck and trailer. Certificates / Licenses / Registrations: Valid Driver’s License Safe Driving Record with no DUI infractions COMPUTER SKILLS: MS Office and business applications. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, write and speak English and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of the organization. Ability to explain the necessity of repairs and their costs to customers. Spanish speaking skill is a significant plus. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms; to stand, walk and sit; and to talk and hear. Heavy lifting up to 70 lbs is common. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Use of company vehicle and trailer to facilitate repairs during work hours. Well lit repair shop that is stocked with wide variety of tools, shelves, benches to do the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to risk of electrical shock is near moving mechanical parts.
