Job Status : This is a seasonal part-time contract position at a nonprofit organization afterschool program.

Scope of Position: Activity Specialist
✔ The Activity Specialist will be responsible for providing academic services to meet the identified needs of the students from the after-school program. He or she is responsible for implementing the goals of the contract and providing an interactive learning environment. The Activity Specialist will also be responsible for working closely and directing Counselors working with him or her in a classroom setting with activities for the students to do in the after-school program. ✔ Associates Degree in Education or related field required, Bachelors degree preferred.
✔ A minimum of four (4) years of direct academic teaching work experience providing services to elementary school age and at-risk adolescents within an education and or training program setting.
✔ Certified to teach in NYS preferred.
✔ Minimum of two years direct supervision with support teaching personnel.
✔ NYS DOH finger printing requirements.
✔ Yearly physical/TB test per OST Medical requirements.
✔ Require to participate in DOH mandated reporting.
✔ Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
✔ Experience in curriculum/lesson plan development, classroom management, and facilitating advisory youth councils required.
✔ Must attend monthly meeting/trainings outside of normal program hours.
✔ Must fulfill 15 hours of mandatory training hours each program licensing period.

Scope of Position: Counselor
We are seeking an After School Counselor for WOTM\\\'s out-of-school-time in Woodside, Queens Counselor must have an interest in working with elementary school youth and supporting activities such as arts, sports, computers, music, dance, or other discipline. Counselors must be open to engaging children with diverse skill sets and abilities. This is NOT a therapist position,

Qualities/Qualification Requirements:
✔ High School Diploma, Associates Degree Preferred
✔ One (1) or more years of youth work experience (after school and/or summer camp setting)
✔ Ability to support individualized and group instruction under supervision of Activity Specialist.
✔ Must be on time for work and be able to shut off all electronic devices while on the job.
✔ Knowledge of DYCD, DOE and DOH (Required to participate in DOH mandated reporting)
✔ Support strong classroom and behavioral management skills, ensuring that all participants follow agency and program rules
✔ Assistance with all activities to ensure the orderly operation of the program, inclusive of: supervising children during snack, facilitating dismissal and completing daily administrative paperwork (e.g. keeping attendance, time sheets, etc.)
✔ Attend and supervise children during special projects and field trips, including those which occur outside of regular program hours
✔ Complete 15 hours of professional development each calendar year.
✔ Demonstrate key competencies including: initiative, teamwork, cooperation, preparedness, professionalism, reliability and a willingness to continuously improve
✔ Attend all meetings, training workshops and special events, as required, inclusive of those outside of program hours
✔ Available during after-school hours, generally 2:30 p.m. through 5:30 p.m; 15 hours per week (not inclusive of monthly staff meetings); Monday-Friday during the school year
✔ Reliability is a must for these positions. We are looking for people who can commit themselves to as many days a week as possible (ideally Monday through Friday afternoons, part-time)
