MIDWEST REEFER The Midwest Reefer routes run an average length of haul around 600 miles and cover the Midwest to Canada, Southeast and South Central United States. Depending on your location, you can get home every 10-14 days, sometimes even weekly. Over The Road Pay Rates for Reefer/Van Drivers: Starting Pay Range $.40 - $.42 per mile - includes $.08 per mile per diem. Basic Level - $.40 per mile 1-2 years of driving experience and must meet minimum hiring standards. Select Level - $.41 per mile 2-4 years of driving experience and must meet minimum hiring standards. Premium Level - $.42 per mile 4+ years of driving experience and must meet minimum hiring standards. Increase in Pay - 1 per mile paid annually on anniversary date with a cap at $.47 per mile. Short Haul Pay - Base mileage pay will be increased according to the following graduated scale for loaded miles less than 400 miles in length. In order to qualify for the additional mileage pay, the total loaded miles must fit the below scale, split loads will not qualify. Loaded Miles Cents Per Mile Over Base 0-100 .20 101-150 .15 151-200 .12 201-250 .09 251-300 .06 301-350 .03 351-400 .02 East Coast Pay - loads delivering East of I-81 (origins W. of MS River) - $50.00 - loads delivering East of I-81 (all other origins) - $25.00 Stop Pay (excluding load origin and final delivery) - $15.00 for each additional pickup or delivery. HazMat Pay - An additional $50.00 per load will be paid on all placarded HazMat loads. Trailer Washout Pay - $10.00 for an authorized vendor washout, or a driver will receive $15.00 for a self trailer washout. Detention Pay - $15.00 an hour when billed - maximum of $150.00. Layover Pay - after 24 hours of layover, at no fault of the driver, driver qualifies for $60.00 layover pay. Subsequent 24-hour periods of layover, driver qualifies for an additional $100.00. Layover pay is subject to Operations discretion and can be adjusted under special circumstances.
