Candidates MUST be a Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) with a license issued by the State of New JerseyWe expect our caregivers to: Support the Vision, Mission and Core Values of Home HelpersKeep us informed of their availability to workAccept work assignments within their stated time and areasBe on time, properly dressed and prepared for all work assignmentsKeep the client as their #1 priority while working and not discuss personal problems with clientsNot conduct personal business while workingComplete 12 hours of training annuallyProvide the office with required paperwork (i.e. PPD Test Results, proof of auto insurance, etc.)Clock in and out of their shifts using the Telephony SystemSubmit their ADL reports and Time Sheets to the office accurately and on timeTreat their clients and co-workers with respect and dignityRead, understand and complt with Home Helpers employee policiesImmediately report incidents or complaintsFollow the provided Plan of CareReturn calls to the office in a timely mannerHome Health Aide Job DescriptionPrimary Responsibilities of this position may include:Grooming Hair Care, Shaving, Oral Care, and Skin CareBathing - Assist with the shower, tub bath, bed bathDressing - Assist client with dressing/undressingToileting - Assist client to the bathroom, bedside commode, urinal, bedpan or diapersAmbulation - Assist client with walkers, canes, gait belt, or crutchesTransferring - Assist client to/from bed, wheelchair, low chair, use of lift, turning client in bedMedications - Provide client with medication remindersCleaning - light cleaning of client s kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, laundry, changing sheets, and other light housework for the clients comfort & safetyMeals - Shop for and cooking of food for client, following special diets, serving and/or feeding mealsEmotional Support - Provide companionship, teaching, having conversations, playing cards/games, etc.Transportation - Errands, Medical appointmentsCommunication - Coordinating patient care with other members of the Home Helpers team. Reporting changes in the patient s condition to family, agency, and medical team. Maintain records of patient care.Essential QualificationsValid New Jersey Home Health Aide LicenseProfessionalismThe ability to communicate in both spoken and written English.The ability to communicate with clients and co-workers in a friendly manner.Ability to lift 25 pounds, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing.Ability to communicate with the office to ensure that service expectations are met.Ability to adapt to various living environments and locations.Ability to withstand periodic contact with pets, dust, mold, mildew and cleaning solutions.Special RequirementsAll employees are required to provide documentation of legal authority to work in the US. Applicants who are not licensed in New Jersey as a Home Health Aide will not be considered. PLEASE LIST YOUR LICENSE NUMBER ON YOUR RESUME OR IN YOUR COVER LETTER WHEN YOU SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION.Additionally, HHAs must also have sympathy for and an interest in caring for the elderly and sick at home. HHAs are required to have valid 2-Step PPD results at the time of hire and are required by state law to be re-tested annually. HHAs who drive must provide Home Helpers with a valid driver s license, proof of current insurance, current registration, and provide a copy of a State Department of Motor Vehicles driving record. Additionally, caregivers must pass a pre-employment background and drug screening.Working ConditionsHHAs work in the client homes. They must be able to bend down, lift and do other things associated with cleaning, cooking and caregiving. The must be able to handle patient suffering that might be due to physical or emotional problems at home.
