Environmental Engineer

Middle Tennessee Auto Parts Plant

Starting salary: 70 :85k , benefits. Preference for middle TN applicants


Ensures the compliance with state and federal environmental regulations, plants permits, and corporate guidelines. Serves as an environmental technical resource for environmental compliance, primarily focusing on solid waste management, storm water pollution prevention and wastewater treatment operations. Other responsibilities include providing support for air, hazardous waste, potable water and release reporting. Collaborates on the preparation of permit applications and environmental reports for regulatory agencies, completing site inspections and audits, and creating and maintaining related documents. Tracks key compliance metrics and implements systems to improve performance.

Develops opportunities for waste minimization and beneficial reuse. Provides effective, appropriate training on environmental requirements to operating personnel. Works directly with plant leadership, peers, and staff to assure implementation of an effective environmental management system. Identifies cost effective solutions to proactively address technical and regulatory environmental issues. Provides on:call environmental support for nights and weekends on a rotating basis.

Basic Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years of experience required; 5 years preferred

B.S. Degree in Environmental, Chemical Engineering, or related engineering or physical science and/or experience in plant operations.

Experience in various Microsoft Office Software applications:

Regulatory compliance and management system experience

Prior industrial facility or consulting experience a plus.

Knowledge : Skills : Abilities:

Attention to detail is required for monitoring and managing day:to:day environmental compliance with all operating permits and regulations. Must have a record of effective management system implementation. The ideal candidate must be able to embrace change, drive continuous improvement, and have the ability to efficiently balance multiple priorities. Must be a self:starter, able to work independently, yet cooperatively with diverse groups. An understanding of major environmental regulations is preferred.

Must be able to communicate effectively with regulatory agencies, vendors and plant employees. A range of motion and stamina sufficient to permit climbing stairs and ladders, walking, standing and crouching, and working outside for extended periods of time is necessary.

Must be US Citizen or current holder of a Green Card to qualify. No sponsorship.
