Position Summary The Mechanic is a critical role that keeps our crews and operations running with reliable and safe equipment through preventative maintenance. Standard Position Tasks + Maintenance and repair of gas and diesel small engines + Perform preventative maintenance work, such as checking oil and fluid levels on all equipment + Maintain inventory records on repairs made, parts ordered, and part inventories + Coordinate work with operations and maintains communication for scheduling repairs and PMs + Provide after-hours support for critical timelines when needed + Diagnose and correct electrical problems + Use pneumatic tools for construction equipment Prerequisite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities + General knowledge of construction related equipment + Strong verbal and written communication; detailed-orientated + Knowledge of DOT regulations is a plus + Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and overtime + Strong Excel and MS Word skills as well as a general competency in computer systems Education and Experience + High School Diploma or equivalent + Five (5) years' work experience in the operation, repair and maintenance of small equipment, both gas and diesel + Must have a valid driver's license, CDL preferred Physical and Environmental Demands + Distinguish safety colors with 20/20 eyesight using corrective lenses if necessary + Ability to speak and hear worksite safety instructions + Withstand prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling + Ability to work with a heightened awareness within the \\\"red zone\\\" of heavy equipment + Work in all seasons and inclement weather both indoors and outdoors + Ability to stand for long periods (up to 14 hours at a time) + Quick and accurate hand-eye coordination to work safely + Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice Post Hire Requirements + Maintain satisfactory safety record + Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards + Provide own work boots and prescription safety glasses (as needed) + Other appropriate personal protective and safety equipment will be supplied by the company + Pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens + Provide US work authorization documents + In-state driver's license with no more than 3 moving violations and no DUIs within a two year rolling period + Satisfactory Criminal History Check + Hold/obtain and maintain DOT medical card Provided Training and Benefits * Professional development training * Employee Assistance program benefit * Health Insurance Plan benefit * Retirement Plan benefit Equal Employment Opportunity Employer This job description is subject to change at any time.
