SCHOLARMADE ACHIEVEMENT PLACE SCHOLARMADE ACHIEVEMENT PLACE at the Historic Mitchell Building in Little Rock, Arkansas will open in August 2018 as a public charter school that will feature a three-academy campus comprised of a K-2 Primary School; a 3-6 elementary school; a 7-9 junior high. The school will open with grades K-5 and will add a grade each year through 9th grade. Scholars will learn anywhere and at any time through an integrated technologies academic program which features a personalized learning approach. Our mission is to prepare children through effective instruction and innovative leadership to be self-confident, intellectually inquisitive, emotionally intelligent, and academically competent beings. Our children will be innovative leaders and problem solvers who will improve conditions for our local, state and global communities. Title: Academy Directors/ Principal VISION FOR POSITION The principal is responsible for setting the vision for achieving and sustaining high levels of student achievement and strategically implementing the school\'s mission through effective leadership of all stakeholders, including faculty, staff, student, parents, and the community. The principal oversees all aspects of the instructional program, school environment and the operational / fiscal health of the school. The Principal is a critical thinker and innovative problem solver with a high level of emotional intelligence. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Principal serve as instructional leader, collaborating closely with the school leadership team, School Governance Council and the Managing Director to determine professional development needs of school to meet school wide goals. The Principal works closely with each individual staff member (both instructional and non-instructional) to assist and guide them with the development of the Professional Growth Plans and to provide training and allow for opportunities for staff to meet individual goals; evaluate progress toward goals. * Manage personnel effectively through appropriate delegation, planning and evaluation. * Fosters an environment where staff and faculty work cooperatively together and hold each other accountable to reach high levels of student achievement. * Effectively evaluate teachers\' classroom management, instructional practice, professional development pursuits, interpersonal and leadership skills, while identifying high- and low-effectiveness performers, and provide clear and actionable feedback, resources and support. * Establish and manage school operations, procedures, systems, and routines that provide structure for students and maximize instructional time. Complete and monitor and all compliance requirements * Work closely with each individual staff members to assist and guide them with the development of the Professional Growth Plans and provide training and allow for opportunities for staff to grow strategically towards Distinguish Level. * Provide instructional leadership - Monitor and support instructional activities, participate in and provide staff development, have knowledge of curriculum and standards, evaluate the effectiveness of instructional resources and curriculum. Develop master schedule that meets the needs of students and allows time for collaboration and planning. * Publish and share research results and lead the school community in establishing best practices that are effective in accelerating achievement and growth. * Access meaningful learning experiences (current theory, research, and developments in relevant academic disciplines, professional development opportunities, and ideas from colleagues and supervisors) and exercise judgment in accepting findings as valid for application in leadership and teacher improvement. * Reflect critically upon leadership experience; identify areas for further professional development as part of a professional development plan that is linked to school and network goals; access meaningful learning experiences; and listen thoughtfully to other viewpoints and respond constructively to suggestions and criticisms. * Communication - Communicate the vision of the school to all stakeholders, be an active listener, maintain cooperative professional relationships, provide opportunities for two way communication between school and community, and district office and school. * Student-centered approach with an understanding of adolescent development -academically, emotionally, and socially. * Provide leadership and management of faculty and staff - recruit, hire and train all staff members, develop and lead a School Improvement Team, motivate, and provide a positive work environment. * Oversee facilities - supervise the maintenance of all facilities and equipment, identify and plan for future facilities needs, develop procedures for transportation, building safety and emergencies. * Manage budget -prepare, administer, and oversee the building budget, secure adequate financial resources. * Confer with parents and staff to discuss educational activities, policies, and student behavioral or learning problems. * Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the Managing Director . Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to the business and human resources; ability to plan and implement individual and group lessons based on district and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to use appropriate language and accompanying techniques with adolescents on one to one basis as well as in groups. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skill in oral and written communication. .
