This role will lead a team of Project Managers and serve as a key member of the company\'s leadership team. Based in Knoxville,TN this critical position will own accountability for the active roster of ongoing works and for the future portfolio.Reporting to the President, the Construction Operations Director is responsible for planning, organizing and directing all division activities to achieve profitability targets and overall corporate objectives including: meeting safety standards; internal team building; maintaining excellent client and vendor relations; exceeding margin and revenue goals; early project deliveries; assisting the buildup of self-perform crews; and implementing best practices.Additional responsibilities include planning and directing all aspects of the construction operations to guarantee projects are constructed in accordance with team expectations including design, budget and scheduling.This is a proactive problem-solving role and will be tasked with ensuring that teams have all resources needed to effectively meet company objectives.Key Goals in the First Yeara€ cents Work with an existing group of talented professionals to thoroughly learn, build and lead a cohesive team in meeting company goals both in the residential and commercial market segments.a€ cents Meet and exceed group revenue, group overhead and project margin goals.a€ cents Fully versed in project management and company management operational systems.a€ cents Build internal and external relationships with key vendors and clients in our market.a€ cents As part of executive and strategic planning teams, assume a portion of corporate responsibilities..Specific Role Duties and ResponsibilitiesLEADERSHIP:a€ cents Assume responsibility for all E.TN construction activities.a€ cents Problem solve! management and controls.a€ cents Establish relationships to foster a loyal and successful vendor base.a€ cents Ensure that all established processes and systems related to personnel are being adhered to as formulated.a€ cents Initiate the development and implementation of new construction-related processes to enhance and improve construction operations.a€ cents Clearly establish performance expectations with direct reports and create a professional development plan for each direct report that has clearly articulated performance goals and measurements.a€ cents Continuously search for the best methods and products.a€ cents Oversee continuous improvement initiatives.a€ cents Actively participate in strategic planning.PROJECT DELIVERY:a€ cents Support project managers with atypical situations (claims management, dispute resolution, warranties, etc.).a€ cents Foster the sharing of lessons learned among all team members.a€ cents Monitor and review all projects and regularly report on portfolio performance.a€ cents Monitor variance information and strategize with department managers to identify and correct recurring or preventable problems.a€ cents Provide ongoing direction, support and management to the operations team.a€ cents Support projects during construction.a€ cents Liaise with clients to assure project objectives are being met.a€ cents Own accountability for field operations and effectiveness of all systems.QUALITY:a€ cents Work with the QC manager to ensure meeting objectives.a€ cents Monitor vendor performance in both schedule and quality, and report these results to the purchasing department.a€ cents Review and update scopes of work in vendor contracts.a€ cents Ensure projects are built on budget, on time and in accordance with the quality standards established by the company.a€ cents Assist in the value engineering process if requested.SAFETY:a€ cents Work with the safety manager to ensure safety objectives are met.a€ cents Ensure all job-site activities comply with the company\'s established safety policies and procedures as well as with OSHA requirements.a€ cents Review exceptions to identify strategies for correcting recurring ambassador for East TN market.Key Qualificationsa€ cents Proven track record of successfully managing a complex portfolio of construction projects of $100M+ annual revenue.a€ cents Strong insight into and experience with the E.TN construction market, including logistics, resources and weather conditions.a€ cents Proven ability to lead multiple divisions of teams in different industry segments.a€ cents Experience switching back and forth between hard (competitive) bid work and negotiated work, sometimes for the same client.a€ cents Track record of managing multiple project teams ranging from hundreds of thousands in value to multi-year $40M+ projects.a€ cents Experience leading a team of at least 3 direct project management reports and their related teams.a€ cents Experience with a wide range of construction projects including vertical as well as infrastructure.a€ cents Expertise in prioritizing between competing issues, project needs, business needs, organizational issues and client relations while making judgements using sound insight and wisdom.a€ cents Strong record of successful win-win negotiations with clients, contractors and vendors.a€ cents Expert knowledge of all aspects of construction activities including proposals, negotiating, bidding, estimating, contracting, scheduling, job-costing, construction management, bonds, insurance and government requirements.a€
