## Description NAES Corporation has an immediate opening for an Electrician at the Materials Innovation and Recycling Authority (MIRA) site, a waste processing facility in Hartford, CT. The plant processes municipal solid waste for combustion at the MIRA Waste to Energy facility that generates 68.5 MW of renewable energy. NAES offers competitive compensation, a comprehensive benefits package (including retirement) and promotional opportunities. ## Requirements GENERAL SUMMARY Responsible for licensed electrician work involving the repair and maintenance of plant, equipment and facilities electrical equipment and systems. Work involves responsibility for safe maintenance, repair and installation of electrical systems and equipment. Duties include performing journey level electrician work. Responsible for making standard electrical trade decisions. The work requires that the employee have good knowledge, skills and ability in electrician work. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS Performs electrician work at the journey level. Installs electrical wiring, equipment and controls. Inspects, tests and maintains electrical systems, including high voltage systems. Detects and repairs electrical system problems. Performs work in a safe manner and observes all safety procedures. Uses all tools, equipment and materials responsibly and performs basic inspection and preventive maintenance prior to use. Fills out job or shift report forms, as assigned. Performs work of other classifications, as necessary. Oversees the work of helpers, as assigned. Responds to emergencies at any time of day or night, as directed. Serves on-call, as assigned. Performs related work as required. The Electrician must perform work in a safe manner resulting in no accidents, in compliance with all environmental permits at all times. The Electrician 1 must effectively communicate information to supervision and fellow plant personnel, relative to the condition of the plant equipment and performance, and provide suggestions for plant improvements. The Electrician 1 must perform duties in such a way to result in an optimum cost-benefit ratio. All employees have the responsibility to both the customer and their co-workers to do the job right the first time and to ensure the customer\'s needs are being met. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS Physical requirements include: working on feet for 12 hour periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing; and routinely lifting 50 pounds. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (eg hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves and high voltage protective equipment, etc.). Work with hazardous materials may be required. The position works the day shift (7 am - 3:30 pm), requires extended working hours and varied shifts with the possibility of weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, work load and plant conditions. \"On call\" status will periodically be required. All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post employment random drug screening. There are extensive smoking restrictions in and around the facility. JOB QUALIFICATIONS A high school or trade school diploma or the equivalent plus four years of electrician experience. Experience in working with voltages up to 4160 volts highly desirable. Must possess a valid Connecticut E-2 Electrician\'s license PLC experience desired Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the area of assignment and have excellent organizational skills.
