The purpose of this job is overall accountability for the management and administration of construction contracts in the achievement of both functional goals and project success. The Construction Manager applies functional knowledge and skills such as constructability, work process discipline, change order management, safety leadership, etc. throughout the planning and execution of construction projects to enable our client's businesses to achieve stated business goals. The role has the primary accountability to ensure that construction of the facilities meet Environment, Health, and Safety (EH&S), quality, schedule, and cost requirements. This job requires daily presence as needed at construction job sites to monitor construction progress, and safety and quality conformance to the company's and Industry requirements. This can include early morning safety and planning meetings as well as weekend and night work during plant turnarounds. The Construction Manager also participates in Front End Loading (FEL) planning activities and Design Engineering reviews for those projects not yet in construction. As a member of the project steering team the Construction Manager will collaborate with project and engineering management to ensure the project construction risks are identified and the project is setup for successful implementation. Key Responsibilities: * Champion the use of construction safety best practices and drive to a zero-incident safety culture on contracts. * Lead the Construction Management staff on a particular project including visible and proactive leadership in all matters related to safety. * Develop Construction Management plans to identify construction resource needs for specific projects. * Ensure that the budget reflects the plan and work with the Project Manager if discrepancies arise. * Provide the Construction expertise in the FEL of a project. Minimize Construction costs through proper planning, technology application and constructability techniques. Provide input to the Contract Labor Strategy. Administer the Construction contracts. Assist in the development of integrated schedules. Ensure that Construction schedules are met or that discrepancies are communicated timely. Minimize start-up and operability issues through the use of Quality Plans. Coach and mentor inexperienced Construction management personnel. Qualifications Required Qualifications: * Ten (10) or more years of experience in Construction within an Industrial environment. * Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word (TM) and Excel (TM) , and have the ability to learn new systems quickly. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills and have excellent reading comprehension and listening skills. * Must be capable of multi-tasking, and have excellent problem solving and time management skills. * Demonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influence. * Be a self-starter who can identify, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks. * Be able to work within an empowered team environment. * Have a high regard for personal safety and the safety of others. Preferred Qualifications: * Contract management experience in the Chlor-Vinyl industry. * Experience overseeing and directing contractors. * Turnaround experience. * Associates degree or higher is required.
