This pipeline of talent has brought life:changing innovation to your fingertips for more than 160 years.Scope of Position (i.e. projects involved with and role within group): The intern will support the development of the Research Melter operation and projects. The Intern will lead and participate in activities associated with process experiments, data collection and analysis, lab testing, and improvements. These activities may include design / build / install of equipment and process experimentation.Day to Day Responsibilities: The intern will be in charge of performing suitable background literature searches and executing on a research project plan. The student will be required to document the results of the research by the end of the summer and give a presentation to the Research Melter and other groups that would be interested in the research project topic.Travel requirements (please note if international): NoneHours of work/work schedule/flex:time: 40hrs/week; 8am:5pmEducation and Experience (minimum required for consideration): Preference for an Intern enrolled in a BS, MS or PhD program in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or Ceramic Engineering, but other candidates may be considered.Required Skills (These are skills that candidates must possess): - Strong technical fundamentals in material science or chemistry - Ability those skills to develop a hypothesis and an experimental plan to test - Analytical problem:solving skills - Strong organizational skills - Ability to build relationships and interact with team - Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information - Flexibility : Able to change and adjust smoothly as the situation demands - Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPointDesired Skills (these are the skills that would be nice for candidates to possess): - Glass materials knowledge / experience - Technically curious - High commitment level - Ability to work in a team based environment and participate as an individual contributor - Ability to sort through multiple data bases to piece together event timeline/troubleshootingSoft Skills (Communication/Team/Leadership): - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to effectively present information - Self:starter, learns quickly, with positive attitude - Willing to own work:stream - Ability to build relationships and interact with all levels of the organizationWe prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, color, gender, age, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, or veteran status or any other legally protected status.Source:
