Luxury Custom Home Builder and Land Development company in Rochester Hills has an immediate opening for a Controller. The company is well established with a strong reputation in the Oakland County residential building community. Current developments include Clear Creek and Vistas in Rochester Hills and Christenbury Creek in Macomb Township along with many luxury custom homesites. Summary Reporting to the company's CEO, the Controller is an integral part of the management team ensuring accurate and timely financial information is available for both management and owners. In addition, the Controller will be expected to provide critical financial analysis to ensure timely and sound business decisions are made. Relationships with key partners including lenders, title companies, insurance agents, attorneys and tax advisors must be developed and maintained by the Controller. Finally, the Controller will oversee other company administration functions as needed including human resource functions. Duties: Manage accounting teamPrepare monthly and annual financial statements for review with management and ownershipCash managementMaintain banking relationship to ensure adequate funding is available for both home building and land developmentPrepare bank draws for ongoing funding and or final closingsReview and maintain adequate insurance for the companyAnalyze financial performance and support operational management as neededWork with company's accountants to ensure annual tax returns completed accurately and on time as well as assist in any tax planning initiativesReview and maintain health and business insurance requirements Required Skills: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting CPA license 7 to 10 years of accounting/finance experience Must have experience with budgeting, forecasting and analyzing results Strong knowledge of and experience with Quickbooks accounting software Knowledge of building and development industry strongly preferred Must have experience with or knowledge of administrative functions associated with a typical owner managed business including legal, HR and IT Must be an energetic, self-starter with a strong attention to detail who can work independently Must have the ability to multi-task and be willing to take on all related tasks as required across a broad range of complexity - from basic bookkeeping to preparation of financial statementsDetroit Free Press.
