Backstory (read this part only if your interested)

For as long as I care to remember, I've wanted a 1985 Volkswagen Vanagon. My initial search revealed that these puppies don't come cheap...so my dream became a fantasy that persisted until one hot (112 degrees) July afternoon.

Almost two years ago to the day, my wife and I bought our very first 1985 Volkswagen Vanagon from Stanley for 3,000$. Stanley was using it at the time for his storage unit--which made this van a project from the start.

Two weeks later, the van made it's way to a mechanic that quoted us 5 months for the repair...I mean engine rebuild...yes, sad to say, the engine was seized, but we predicted it might be, so it wasn't too much of a shock. We figured 3,500 to 4,000 for a new engine and we'd be sitting with a reliable, camper van for under 10,000 grand.

As you see from the pictures, the vans dream (and ours) of a having a brand new engine, never became a reality. The mechanic drug us on for 2 full years until finally my wife and I decided to remove it from his shop.

This Vanagon began it's journey with me as a project (a fun one albeit) but unfortunately I will not see it to the end...somebody else will, maybe you. My wife and I can no longer afford to move forward with this project.

Below you'll find a list and pictures of what has been done to the van in the past two years. Most of the parts that have been put on were from cip.com, vancafe.com, gowesty.com, and busdepot.com.

Please note that my wife and I are selling this van at a loss. Only respond if you're serious and willing to pay the listed price. Thank you. I have all receipts for the work and parts as well (which don't include shipping / labor costs). Also, as a project, this van is coming in project shape--that is, it has parts that need to be put back on inside and outside (the top for example is not attached.)

Thanks again, I hate to see this van go, but I know this van will eventually see the road again and make whomever drives it a happy person.
