Poinciana Medical Center is a four-story, 150,000 square foot hospital with 70 private beds and a six-private bed ICU. Poinciana Medical Center provides a full range of acute care services including emergency services, diagnostic imaging, inpatient and outpatient surgery, cardiac catheterization, laboratory, pharmacy, and a full range of support services. The Emergency Department is approximately 14,500 square feet and consists of 22 private treatment spaces, an EMS entrance and a helicopter pad.Poinciana Medical Center is located at 325 Cypress Parkway in Kissimmee, serving the communities of Osceola and Polk counties. POSITION SUMMARY: Provides leadership and organizational wide direction, development and implementation of services and programs within assigned areas. Responsible for organizational wide direction, development and implementation of services and programs within assigned areas. Utilizes, integrates, and interprets data to assist organization in its improvement efforts, and promote optimal patient outcomes. Works collaboratively with Senior Management to develop strategic quality initiatives. Leads organizational performance efforts for JCAHO, core quality measures, COP and regulatory and all other accrediting and regulatory agencies. Ensures compliance with JCAHO, and all legal, regulatory and accrediting agency requirements are met. Ensures responsibility for organizational wide occurrence reporting system; analyzes and reports trends and identifies appropriate interventions to reduce risk and liability to the organization. Develops and implements educational programs for employees, medical staff and board members on analysis of risk assessment, historical and concurrent occurrence and claims data and national trends. Facilitates and directs organizational wide risk management program to ensure compliance with statutory mandates, regulatory requirements and accreditation standards of professional organizations, i.e., JCAHO, OSHA, etc. Participates in and provides leadership for organizational disaster preparedness and patient safety initiatives. Role Accountabilities Ensures and contributes to continuity of care through demonstrated use of interdisciplinary team approach to patient care. Collaborates, shares pertinent information with members of the healthcare team regarding the risk management program. Acts as an active member of peer review committees; analyzes cases and outcome data and collaborates with physicians to promote and improve practice and optimal patient outcomes. \\\"Organization Policies & Process Improvement Actively contributes to and works toward hospital wide improvement in meeting core measures, patient safety and service excellence goals.\\\" Continuously evaluates work process and design; understands role in ensuring quality/performance improvement, productivity, and service delivery to meet stakeholder needs. Performs duties in accordance with departmental policies and procedures, and recognized professional, quality, patient safety, environmental and infection control standards. Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues. Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patients care which results in patient harm. Ensures the coordination of communication from the Quality Committee regarding activities of quality improvement teams and projects throughout the organization. Provides relevant and timely feedback to directors to improve services and processes. Acts as a expert resource to Senior Leadership, Department Managers, Physicians, and all members of the healthcare team regarding study design, data collection and interpretation, PI quality model, team process and group dynamics. Serves as organizational liaison with Corporate Quality Department. Foster positive first impression by ensuring all work areas are organized, clean and project a professional appearance. Promotes a professional image and acts as an ambassador inside and outside the organization. Takes ownership and demonstrates service excellence principles in all interactions with the patient, physician and others. Ensures patient's safety, dignity and privacy at all times. Contributes to the attainment of business goals through positive impact on continuous quality and performance improvement outcomes as publicly reported Quality and patient safety data. Demonstrates responsibility and accountability in managing productivity standards. Continuously evaluates and assesses work process/design to enhance productivity and service delivery to meet stakeholder expectations and business goals. Actively monitors budget and evaluates expenditures on a regular basis. Initiates recommendations to ensure department is operating within budget. Optimizes use of supplies, equipment and services, ensuring a high level of clinical care at the lowest cost. Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising quality or the services delivered.
