Hello. Due to too much spam and scams I cannot respond to emails or text messages. Please call if you are interested in coming to take the Jeep for a spin and check it out. Thanks.

I apologize in advance for the long winded description of the car, but it is easier to mention everything here in writing and help me not to leave out too many details. This also explains why my asking price is higher than blue book. I have much more invested than the asking price and am confident that the right buyer will see the quality and care of this specific Grand Cherokee.

I have for sale a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I bought this Jeep two years ago from a neighbor of mine. His parents were the original owners and purchased it new from the Jeep dealership in Lakeview in 1996. They were an older couple. They took exceptional care of it and it has been garaged kept until the past couple of years. I'm in my mid 40's and bought it from him this Summer and have enjoyed the Jeep immensely, but I am putting together another Jeep project and want to free up the capital from this Jeep for that project this Winter.

Details and Options:
This jeep has 174k original miles on it! It has the 318 small block V8 engine, automatic transmission with DuraTrac (full time or also called All Wheel Drive (AWD)). The suspension is in excellent shape and it drives really nicely on the road. In any condition, sand, mud, ice, snow, etc the Jeep is secure and gets phenomenal traction. The color is a gorgeous purple looking and is called Rosewood Pearl. There is no visible external rust and very few dings, considering the year and mileage. It is not a show Jeep, but a very, very well taken care of Grand Cherokee.

After buying the Jeep this Summer I first had all the mechanicals checked out to verify that the Jeep was as mechanically sound as the interior looked and the exterior would get when we gave it some love and attention that it needed. I had a full tune up, Bosch platinum plugs, wires, cap, rotors, PCV valve, air filter, fuel filter, etc. Oil change. We changed dif and transmission fluid as needed and fixed the O2 sensor that was causing the check engine light to come on. Coolant system was flushed and a/c was charged. It blows cold! A new valve cover gasket was installed to fix a minor leak. Transmission had a minor leak and a new seal was installed to remedy. Brakes were squeaky from sitting and getting close to needing replacement so I replaced all four with new drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads. We painted the axle housing black to give it a clean look. The rest of the suspension, ball joints, pinions, etc was just recently replaced and was inspected and is in perfect working order. ASE mechanics did all the work. I discovered that there was a factory recall on the 2" Hitch, so it has a new one care of Alma Jeep, Chrysler! The serpentine belt and Power steering pump assembly are new too.

When I first bought the Jeep this Summer it was under a pine tree and the paint and exterior needed some love. I power washed the exterior and took it to David Peterson of Premier Car Care in Edmore. He did a really nice job of touching up the paint, removing oxidation and sap and generally coaxing the paint back to a beautiful shine. He also blackened out the wheel wells and axles to protect from corrosion and give it a fresh look. The interior was steam cleaned and deodorized. The front grill and roof rack where removed, cleaned and painted with a fresh coat of black and reinstalled.

Rims, Tires, Lift:
Once the GC was running and looking great I had a 2" lift installed and removed the older stock tires and rims and replaced them with a new set of 17" MBM TKD black rims and Nitto Performance off road tires. They are 30.5". There is no rubbing. We trimmed the inner plastic fender well about 1" in the Discount Tire installation bay. They have lifetime balance and rotation. Jeep was then driven next door to the Kia dealership (in Lansing) for a 4 wheel computerized alignment.

Electronics and Electrical:
I had the entire factory system removed and replaced with a Pioneer 6800XT head unit. It has blue tooth, built in amp, changes colors on the face, auxiliary and USB plugs, hands free option and tons of other features. The four door speakers are Alpine 6.5 powered by a 600 watt Pioneer amp. I coupled these to a 12"kicker sub powered by a 400W Boss amp. It has 5' of speaker wire so you can move the box around in the rear of the Jeep as needed. The Jeep is protected with a Viper keyless alarm with remote start. It works up to a mile away. The fobs are mini USB charged, so no batteries are needed! So, simply leave the heater on in the Winter or AC in the Summer and you will be getting into a very comfortable car year round. While Ray from M and R Electronics in Saginaw was installing the stereo he also installed replacement headlamps with upgraded bulbs. He replaced the driver door power window module and one of the lock switches. All windows and doors work as they should. All dash, overhead courtesy, door and dash lights are upgraded to LED (this makes a huge difference from the dark factory ones). He also installed a new 7 and 4 way plug for the new 2" Reeese hitch. Previously the Jeep had never been used to tow, because there was no 4 way plug! M and R does all the police cruiser customizations and are expensive but perfectionists. The sound system sounds great and the truck lights up like a modern high end car.

I bought a factory cut floor liners that fit the contour of the Jeep's floor. They cover Both front, rear and cargo area. It also has new carpeted mats on those. One of the door panels was in rough shape so I found a replacement and had it installed. I have never been in a car with similar miles that was as clean as this vehicle is. The driver seat has had more wear from me driving this car in the past 6 months, than it did in its previous life. As you can see from the photos it is near mint condition.

The driver side door and hatch must have had a plugged drain, because it did rust from the inside on those two. It is not visible from the outside, but it does have some rust on the inside of those two panels. The driver side door sags a bit and could use two new door pins. The frame, quarter panels, remaining three doors are really solid, with no rust issues.

I did take this to Sand Lake once this year. It performed flawlessly. It climbed test hill right down the middle. The DuraTrac makes driving in any conditions really easy - point the wheels and go! The Nitto tires with 10# of air were really impressive! This latest snow storm really makes driving fun. It is incredibly well adapted to any loose or slippery surface driving condition.

Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in coming to look and test drive this Jeep. I have every receipt for every repair that I mentioned above. Purchaser will receive a file with all of them. Title is clear and ready to be signed over once cash payment is made. Local Bank certified check with confirmed funds will be accepted also.
