Starrs Gift Officer, is a key member of the development team, is responsible for managing a pre:existing portfolio of primarily individual, prospective donors. Our Gift Officer will be a strategic resource to help Starr build its portfolio as part of the planning and execution of a significant capital campaign.
STARR Commonwealth is an internationally:recognized leader in providing transformational community:based programs and residential treatment services for youth and their families, as well as professional training in identifying, treating, and healing trauma and pain:based behavior, and building resiliency in children and adolescents. We are seeking a dynamic, experienced professional to join our team as Major Gift Officer. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, this position will serve as a front:line fundraiser, working with individuals capable of making major and planned gifts.
The ideal candidate must have a bachelors degree and a minimum of 5:7 years of related, major gift experience. Additional desired attributes include: Ability to work effectively with high net worth individuals; experience utilizing a moves management model to strategically cultivate relationships with prospective major donors; ability best practice gift planning techniques; excellent written and verbal communication skills; and experience engaging boards of directors, volunteers, and senior leadership in the fund development process.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
: Contribute to an emerging strategic development plan designed to further enhance a culture of philanthropy at Starr through successful major and planned giving programming.
:Develop and manage a portfolio of 150 predominantly individual prospective donors that includes current and prospective donors from the greater communities in which Starr operates including board members, corporations and foundations, families, alumni, and staff.
:Work nationally to cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with existing individual, corporate, and foundation prospective donors; as well as to initiate and facilitate new relationships among individuals, corporations, and foundations and Starr Commonwealth.
:Create gift planning strategies for all prospective donors that match the donors strategic priorities with those of Starr using best industry approaches related to planned giving.
:Work strategically under a moves management system that includes an industry standard goal of 15 moves per month.
:Work in collaboration with other members of the development leadership team in developing marketing plans for existing and potential programs of interest to prospective donors.
:Respond to all relevant major gift inquiries received as a result of marketing efforts and create proactive strategies for follow:up.
:Adhere to and help further refine established major gift and planned giving policies, systems, and procedures.
:Prepare and write reports on major and planned giving fundraising activities and progress.
:Attend regularly:scheduled senior staff meetings and other scheduled meetings.
:Participate in training and other educational offerings.

Minimum Qualifications:
:Bachelors degree with Masters preferred.
:Seven to ten years of documented major and/or planned gift experience and results.
:Thorough knowledge and understanding of all areas of fundraising, including annual giving, major, and planned giving; campaign fundraising experience is a plus.
:A record of progressively responsible fundraising experience and leadership.
:Proven success in building productive, long:term relationships with a varied range of constituencies including d board members, executive leadership, volunteers, families, alumni, and staff.
:Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and managerial skills.
:Highly developed attention to detail as a natural working style.
:Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.
