Job Description:/h3:Job Location: San Marcos, TX/Austin, TXTelecom Engineer with P.E. License (Austin Area)This person serves as a resource to OSP Design studio. The candidate will have demonstrated expertise and experience in the Telecommunications and Civil engineering industry. This includes aerial, buried and underground copper/fiber cable design, buried conduit, Handhole, and fiber design, building entrance and riser facilities. Additionally, knowledge of utility easements, road and rail road crossings requirements and other complex ROW issues. Candidate must be familiar with engineering in the public right of way and private property.Candidates must possess the ability to meet or exceed business unit goals and deadlines while maintaining quality standards, controlling expenses, and following company and business unit directives and practices.The Engineer/P.E. will be responsible for:* Completes designs in accordance to customer specifications and guidelines. Prepare permits and or private easements. Able to read and understand highway/road prints, be able to identify conflicts with existing outside plant facilities, select routing of lines and equipment required for relocation projects.* Performing telecom or civil engineering design, review, approval and project management per client specifications.* Preparing costs estimates and written reports.* Supporting the design and engineering process by planning and preparing drawings for construction of new, and removal or rearrangement of existing fiber optic and/or copper cables, and conduits.* Researching and applying new materials, methods, techniques, and technologies to expand and improve the efficiency, reliability, and safety processes.* Promoting and representing the company in presentations to customers, management, staff, and other interested parties.* Requirements:* Understands and implements design work packages to include; detailed scope of work, drawings, cable run list, bill of material, as:built drawings and when required a detailed method of procedure.* Performs field site visits, data collection, and engineering for the design of aerial, underground, and buried fiber optic facilities.* Performs routine aspects of engineering assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles.* Applies knowledge of engineering principles to prescribed techniques and procedures to complete project assignments* Demonstrated exceptional problem solving skills.* Demonstrate ability to project management from conception thru design phase to project completion meeting or exceeding deadlines/timelines.*Work in a collaborative team environment and ability to teach/develop team membersMinimum Qualifications* Must have a Professional Engineer designation/license in the state of Texas (Experience in City of Austin)* Individual must be available to mobilize when scheduled and possess a valid drivers license with a clean motor vehicle report.* Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. . .)* Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions* Must be able to stand, bend, squat, walk, move, lift, carry. . . equipment (:20 lb) for the duration of the work dayPreferred Qualifications* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with the client, employees and management by demonstrating excellent written and oral communication skills.* OSP Technical Practices and Regional Procedures* Pole line design* Bachelors degree in engineering technology or sciences preferred or any other degree, specialized training, or experience, that makes the individual uniquely qualified to perform the job responsibilities.* Professional Engineer (P.E.) Certification in the state of Texas* OSP/ISP or Fiber design and field experience.
