Job DescriptionAssistant Project Manager Job Purpose: An Assistant Project Manager is an entry level position in Project Management segment located in Atlanta. The primary purpose of an Assistant Project Manager is to develop the knowledge and skills of construction project management while assisting the Project Team with the daily management, supervision, coordination, and successful completion of projects. While still developing the knowledge and skills of construction project management, an Assistant Project Manager will also begin the transitional process to inherit their own project load and represent through job site meetings and presence along with customer interaction. Requirements: A' . College or Technical School degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management is preferred. A' . Background and experience in architecture, engineering, or construction is preferred. A' . Background and experience in exterior cladding and/or other building products is preferred. A' . Must possess a desire to learn all aspects of construction and the subcontracting business. A' . Must demonstrate the ability to make sound decisions and complete the directions once taught the project management processes and procedures. A' . Must demonstrate the aptitude to read and understand project specifications, architectural and structural drawings, and addenda. A' . Must demonstrate the aptitude to understand and check project shop drawings, 3D models, fabrication drawings, and sheet metal flat patterns. A' . Must be willing and able to collaborate, train and mentor Junior Project Managers and other Assistant Project Managers. A' . Must demonstrate an aptitude to learn and understand construction sequencing, quality standards, and product limitations. A' . Must demonstrate an aptitude to make decisions quickly and convey accurate information to Project Managers, project installer, customer, and other Segment Managers. A' . Must be able to prioritize and complete multiple tasks that may vary in urgency to multiple members of the Project Team. Responsibilities: A' . Assisting the Project Director and other Project Managers by taking ownership of assigned tasks. A' . Assisting Project Managers by ensuring that product submittals match the estimated and quoted products. A' . Assisting Project Managers by preparing project setup tasks including: project plans, schedules, deadlines, goals, and objectives. A' . Perform initial review of project documentation throughout the project duration. (ie addendums, RFIs, meeting minutes, etc.). A' . Assisting Project Managers by preparing project RFIs, schedules, and other related documentation. A' . Perform initial review of project Shop Drawings to ensure all detail call outs and architectural references are correct while also considering scope of work, constructability, material constraints, and grain direction issues. A' . Perform square foot checks and panel counts of the scope of work prior to a projectA cents € (TM) s Shop Drawing review to be compared to the totals from an estimate. A' . Perform material takeoffs in preparation for material requisitions and procurements for Project Manager approval. A' . Assisting Project Managers in the Park Drawing Loop by reviewing project Part Drawings through multiple rounds of changes and corrections. A' . Prepare a projectA cents € (TM) s production release to be reviewed by the projectA cents € (TM) s assigned Project Manager or a more experienced Project ManagerA cents € (TM) s review if the project is assigned to this Assistant Project Manager. A' . Perform initial review of project job cards to ensure the accuracy of job costs towards Cost Codes and informing the Project Team should there be any discrepancies. A' . Traveling with Project Managers or in their place to project jobsites to attend meetings, and/or gather field measurements or other project information. A' . Attend all relevant kickoff meetings. A' . Attend all relevant shop drawing review meetings. A' . Attend all relevant pre-scan, post-scan, and model review meetings. A' . Enter time worked through the current time tracking system on a daily basis. Work Context: A' . High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and exactness is extremely important in this position. A' . Ability to work with a wide variety of employees, customers, and personalities. A' . Ability to manage stress and high pressure situations. A' . Excellent verbal and written communication skills are very important to communicate with employees and customers. A' . Excellent time management and prioritization skills are necessary due to the demands of the position. A' . Out of state traveling by car or airplane will be required. A' . On the jobsite training will be required.
