This was purchased years ago during undergrad and was used daily - without fail - to the end of grad school. To this day I still use it on occasion and it's truly one of the best business laptops I've ever owned and I've owned a lot. Unfortunately, I have acquired two brand new business laptops (one from employment and the other for personal use), so the Dell D820 is not used regularly anymore and just hibernates in its satchel.

Let me say this on the outset: This is not a gaming laptop. This laptop was designed to be a rock-solid business laptop for end-users who require both power and top-end security features. Conversely, with its 2.0 GHz Core 2 Duo with TurboBoost, 3 gigs of RAM and NVIDIA graphics card, you can certainly play some games on it. It's quite excellent at streaming or playing movies and music, but honestly I have never tried gaming with it.

I have maintained this laptop since it was purchased brand new. It has never had any spills, drops or accidents. All hardware works perfectly, it has zero dead pixels on its LCD and cosmetically is in great shape. Aside from some wear on the keys from typing, it has no other cosmetic flaws. It has no cracks, bumps or bruises.

I recently updated the BIOS with a tweaked version I compiled. I added new OPROM hardware drivers as well as a SLIC 2.1 to replace the OEM SLIC 2.0. The SLIC 2.1 will allow for activation of the Windows 7 (x86 and x64) OS as well as all OS' prior to Windows 7, whereas the OEM 2.0 SLIC would only activate Windows Vista.

This laptop also comes with quite a few accessories. Its hard drive is a newer Seagate Momentus FDE.1 which is a self-encrypting hard drive (FDE stands for full-disk encryption). All data that accesses the drive is encrypted with AES-256 bit encryption. This encryption is done at the hardware level, so there is zero impact on performance and no resources used. It is invisible to the end-user and uses Seagate's DriveTrust API which can be initialized using Wave Embassy Security Center in order to apply the custom locking feature for when the laptop is turned off and preventing any access to it. Multiple users can be set up through Wave Embassy Security Center and a username and password is then required upon each boot of the laptop, or upon coming out of hibernation. Likewise, you can set an ATA hard drive password to lock the drive, too; however, utilizing the DriveTrust API is significantly more secure. If anyone were to steal the laptop, you could be certain no data on the drive could be accessed.

Also included is an authentic Dell docking station, OmniKey smart card reader, OEM installation media, battery (which is new), charging cable, 2nd hard drive that sits where the DVD-ROM usually sits (DVD-ROM will also be included) and carrying case.

I must state, though, that this laptop is not exactly light. It's not heavy and I carried it around with me all through undergrad and grad school, but it is a solid machine.

If you have any questions, send me a message. Thanks.
